LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 4, 2020) Each week, the NTRA will provide a rundown of those who have qualified for the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) the previous weekend.

The NHC is the most important tournament of the year for horseplayers and is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino race books, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping websites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals. The 2021 NHC is now slated take place in the Bally’s Events Center from August 27-29.

 

Saturday, October 24

Monmouth Park

Peter Rogers of Summit, NJ is now dual qualified for his sixth NHC appearance.

Roger Cettina, who was inducted into the NHC Hall of Fame in 2020, is now dual qualified for his 12th appearance in the NHC. The resident of Rumson, NJ is the only player to finish second in the NHC twice (2013 and 2016) and he’s cashed at the NHC three times while accumulating $460,300 in earnings.

 

Friday, October 30

Robert Tacher of Coral Springs, FL will be making his second NHC appearance when he heads to Las Vegas in 2021.

Ken Zelin of Toronto, ON is qualified for his seventh NHC appearance.

Matt Strutzel of Wheaton, IL is heading to the NHC for the fifth time, having cashed once in 2015 for $7,500.

John Kennedy of Nahant, MA will be heading to the NHC for the second time. He was dual qualified for his first appearance at the tournament in 2020.

David Barnier of San Diego, CA will be heading back to the NHC for his second appearance having cashed for $13,700 in his first trip to the tournament in 2020.
