LEXINGTON, Ky. (February 18, 2021) – Each week, the NTRA will provide a rundown of those who have qualified for the National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) the previous weekend.
The NHC is the most important tournament of the year for horseplayers and is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino race books, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping websites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals. The 2021 NHC is slated take place in the Bally’s Events Center from August 27-29 with the 2022 NHC set for January 28-30 at Bally’s.

Cheryl Knepper of Reading, PA has made six prior appearances at the NHC.
Alistair Wallbaum of Washington, DC will be heading back to the NHC in Las Vegas, having made his first appearance in 2016.
Basil Devito of Norwalk, CT has made six prior appearances at the NHC tournament and has cashed twice for a total of $40,800.

Joe Johnson of San Antonio, TX has competed at the NHC four times prior with his best finish coming in 2018 when he placed 37th and cashed for $11,040.
Jeff Arthur of Chesapeake, VA has made four prior appearances at the NHC.

Brian Chenvert of Rogers, MN has made 10 previous appearances at the NHC having cashed once for $1,450.
Mike Yarusso of Eagan, MN has made five prior appearance at the NHC tournament.
Michael Samples of Ocean, NJ qualified for his fourth NHC and has cashed once for $11,250 in 2020.
Christophe Huttepain of Los Angeles, CA has made two prior appearances at the NHC and cashed for $17,400 in 2015.
