NEW YORK CITY (Tuesday, August 5, 2014) – The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) will host a legislative briefing open to industry stakeholders and other interested parties Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Man o’ War restaurant at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Hosted by NTRA President and CEO Alex Waldrop and NTRA lobbyist Greg Means of the Alpine Group, the one-hour event will cover the latest news from Washington, D.C., on federal legislation that could impact horse racing.

Topics will include prospects and perils for expired investment incentives and other tax measures that affect the industry, especially horse owners, breeders and horseplayers. Means also will offer an insider’s view of the upcoming elections. A question-and-answer session will follow.

The event is free but space is limited and reservations are encouraged. Please RSVP to Barbara Fossum at bfossum@ntra.com or (610) 322-7125. Media interesting in covering the briefing should contact Jim Mulvihill of NTRA Communications.

A subsequent legislative briefing is set for Sept. 12 on the dark day of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in Lexington, Ky., at 10 a.m. at Keene Place on the Keeneland grounds. A similar briefing also is scheduled for Aug. 21 at Del Mar immediately following the races.
