Favored Big Brown dominated the Kentucky Derby despite breaking from post 20. The son of Boundary would go on to win the Preakness Stakes to remain undefeated in five starts, before losing the Belmont Stakes after being pulled up by jockey Kent Desormeaux at the top of stretch. Big Brown retired with a record of seven wins in eight lifetime starts.
