Noted neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Fager whose lifesaving skills inspired horse trainer John Nerud a former patient of his to name a yearling after him back in 1964 after saving his life, calling him Dr. Fager who in 1968 was named champion Horse of the Year, champion sprinter, champion grass horse and champion handicap horse. Dr. Charles Fager died today at the age of 90 at his home in Wellesley, Mass.
