Prominent Southern California trainer Mike Mitchell, who underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor in 2012, died Tuesday. During his career, Mitchell captured training titles at Del Mar (seven), Santa Anita (two), Oak Tree at Santa Anita (three), and Hollywood Park (seven). He was 66.
