Saratoga Springs, NY—December 16, 2014 – As part of the 2015 Eclipse Awards Week-long events, ThoroFan announces that it will honor an industry favorite at its Third Annual Awards Breakfast sponsored by Red Brand Fence Company on January 16, 2015.

Highlighting the event is the ThoroFan Award, given each year to a person or entity who substantially contributes to building the fan base in thoroughbred racing. Michael Blowen, through Old Friends, has educated hundreds of thousands of fans in the importance of caring for our equine athletes after their racing careers conclude.

“He has brought so many fans to our sport through his humanitarian endeavors and unmatched commitment to aftercare of thoroughbred horses,” said ThoroFan Board Chairman, Michael Amo. “It is our honor to recognize Mr. Blowen as our 2015 ThoroFan Award recipient.”

Serving as keynote speaker for the breakfast is Jack Wolf, President of Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and founder of Starlight Racing. Another much-anticipated segment of the Annual Breakfast is the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s Moment of the Year award. Moment nominees illustrated a wide range of human emotions and achievements as well as outstanding displays of equine athleticism. The winning moment is based on fan voting.

The Breakfast will be held January 16, 2015 at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino’s Ten Palms Room. Registration starts at 9 am with the program following at 9:30 am. Tickets are $75 per person, which includes not only a full gourmet breakfast buffet, but a reserved seat and program for that afternoon’s races, as well as autographs, photo opportunities and more. Tables of eight can be reserved and corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
