Of three noted horseplayers in tonight’s special lesson plan. “The Psychology of a Horseplayer” will be discussed for the first time as guests Maury Wolff, Jimmy “The Hat” Allard and Michael Beychok take part in the interactive media experience. Week 10 of the 40-week Night School season will be a special simulcast on SiriusXM’s “At the Races With Steve Byk” program, and streamed live into the Night School chat box free for all listeners. Fans will be able to direct questions to the panelists as well as the audio stream’s co-hosts Jeremy Plonk of Horse Player NOW and Byk.
Wolff, of Alexandria, Va., is one of the most respected horseplayers and racing economists of modern times. He has been a member of the NTRA Players’ Panel and was runner-up in the inaugural DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship.
Allard is a Southern California-based professional horseplayer for more than a quarter-century and was an advisor to the HBO series “Luck.” His seven-figure scores in multi-race wagers are documented west coast lore.
Beychok won the 2012 DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship, taking the Baton Rouge, La., based horseplayer to new heights. The political strategist by day has since opened his own website beychokracing.com.
Night School co-founder Joe Kristufek will moderate the chat portion of the lesson and interact with fans as they listen into the show and contribute questions. The show will be engineered by Casey Ghee of “At the Races with Steve Byk.”
Night School attendees will be able to pose questions to all of the guests in two manners, either by the live chat module or by joining the “At the Races with Steve Byk” live call-in show at 1.866.454.6848. Those wishing to listen in on the radio can find the program from 8:30-10 p.m. (EDT) on Sirius 93, XM 209 or at Sports Zone 961 for Sirius Online users. For those who cannot attend live, the Night School archives always are available free, immeditely following the session and beyond. The complete audio archive will be available on Wednesday.

The 90-minute classes are offered every Tuesday for 40 consecutive weeks through Dec. 3. Topics change weekly, and fans are eligible for prizes and rewards for registering. Registration is optional and free. There is never a charge for taking part in Night School. The weekly program is offered in three media: live chat via the Cover It Live live blogging/chat forum, audio/radio streaming and full video lesson plans. The media of delivery is based on the subject matter and alternates throughout the season.
This week’s Night School will be followed at 10:00 p.m. ET by the “After Night School Special,” featuring live racing from Mountaineer Park. The segment will cover the evening’s final race in real time with free, live-streaming video. Fans wishing to take part in the Mountaineer action simply need to remain in the Night School chat after class.
