NTRA SAFETY & INTEGRITY ALLIANCE, RMTC ANNOUNCE

2ND REGULATORY VETERINARY CONTINUING EDUCATION CONFERENCE

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Thursday,  October 4, 2018) – The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) Safety & Integrity Alliance and the Racing Medication & Testing Consortium (RMTC) today announced that RegVetCE19, a two-day continuing education conference for regulatory and official racetrack veterinarians, will be held March 4-5, 2019 at Gulfstream Park Racing & Casino.

 

The one-of-kind-conference provides training and implements best practices directly related to the protection of the health and welfare of the racehorse. Topics expected to be covered at RegVetCE19 include:

 

  • Pharmacology for regulatory veterinarians
  • Pre-race examinations in the shedrow
  • Out of Competition integrity strategies
  • Regulating therapeutic medications
  • Official testing laboratory process and expectations
  • The statistics of therapeutic thresholds development
  • The great unknown: compounding, illegal new medications, misbranding, mislabeling, and adulterated substances
  • Global perspective: International and U.S. medication regulation

 

As was the case at the inaugural RegVetCE held in June at Keeneland, It is anticipated that veterinary continuing education credits will be offered by The Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) program of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB).

 

Participation in RegVetCE19 is limited to active official veterinarians employed or sponsored by a racetrack or regulatory authority. Select additional participants may be admitted at the discretion of organizers. Registration is now open at http://ntra.kinsta.cloud/reg-vet-ce/. The cost is $300 per person and space is limited. The inaugural RegVetCE attracted 70 participants representing more than 100 international racetracks.
