The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA)’s President and CEO Tom Rooney will highlight his first year as head of the organization and the 2023 legislative outlook for Thoroughbred breeding and racing in Washington in his remarks at next week’s Global Symposium on Racing in Tucson, Arizona. Additionally, the NTRA will host its annual National Horseplayers Championship (NHC) Workshop on Monday, December 5 at 3 p.m. MT, less than 100 days out from the annual Las Vegas event.
Rooney will speak Wednesday morning at 8:15am and will discuss election results, the upcoming 118th Congress, and what legislative priorities look like for the NTRA’s new Washington, D.C. based team. Rooney introduced himself as the new NTRA chief at last year’s Symposium.
The annual NHC workshop will feature research and case studies outlining the profitability of hosting NHC contest qualifiers and this year all workshop attendees are invited to experience the excitement of contest play firsthand by participating in a Symposium Contest Showdown. The Symposium Contest Showdown winner, who must be a symposium registrant, will receive a complimentary trip to Las Vegas to witness the 2023 NHC.
All symposium registrants and workshop attendees who host an NHC qualifier in 2023 will receive a $500 discount toward the purchase of one NHC spot to be awarded as a prize at their 2023 contest.
