The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) today announced that it has hired Jim Mulvihill as Director of Media & Industry Relations.  Since October 2009, Mulvihill has served as the Communications and Pari-Mutuel Marketing Manager for Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, a Churchill Downs Incorporated Company in New Orleans, LA.

Mulvihill will officially start on Monday, July 15 and will be based in New York City with the other members of NTRA Communications.  Jim’s new e-mail address with the NTRA will be: jmulvihill@ntra.com

“Jim brings an impressive mix of horse racing knowledge and communications experience to the NTRA Communications team, which is already providing excellent support to the industry,” NTRA President and CEO Alex Waldrop said. “We are thrilled to have him join the NTRA.”

Mulvihill received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emerson College in Boston, MA, in 2000 and attended the Race Track Industry Program at the University of Arizona in 2000-2001. He has served in a variety of public relations and communications positions within and outside of Thoroughbred racing, including roles at Lone Star Park near Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston before joining Fair Grounds.  Additionally, Mulvihill has written horse racing content for the Associated Press, Thoroughbred Times and The Saratoga Special, and served as an intern at Daily Racing Form.
