NTRA TODAY IN THOROUGHBRED RACING HISTORY

2013 A new world record was set by Bright Thought after winning the Grade II San Luis Rey Stakes at Santa Anita Park by 3 ¼ lengths on the turf. His final time for the 1 ½ miles was 2:22.72 in hundredths or 2:22 3/5 in fifths. The previous record holder was Hawster at Santa Anita Park at 2:22.80. Bright Light's world record would be eclipsed a week later by Twilight Eclipse at Gulfstream Park.
