1986 Kent Desormeaux made his Maryland debut, in the fourth race, at Laurel Race Course, Laurel, Md., aboard Shonda’s Shickels. He finished second, but was disqualified for interference and placed fourth.

WHAT WE DO.

The mission of the NTRA is to increase the popularity, welfare and integrity of Thoroughbred racing through consensus-based leadership, legislative advocacy, safety and integrity initiatives, fan engagement and corporate partner development.
